GRANTS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE MELBOURNE DENTAL SCHOOL AND PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATES
Grant applications must be submitted to the Research Administrator, Melbourne Dental School, by the internal deadline date. DO NOT submit grant applications directly to external granting bodies OR go by the deadline dates printed on the external websites.

Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF) Research Grants Who can apply? Academic staff and postgraduate research students Value of Grant: $5,000-$15,000 The ADRF will award the ADIA Research Prize to the primary applicant on the highest ranked research grant each year. Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF) Undergraduate Research Grants Who can apply? 4th year BDSc students; 1st and 2nd year BOH students; DDS students Value of Grant: $2,200 to be paid in installments Conditions: For a supervised research project to be undertaken over the summer. The ADRF will award Undergraduate Research Grants to up to three students per dental school nationally. Trebitsch Prize One applicant from the Melbourne Dental School will be nominated for the Trebitsch Prize. The Trebitsch Prize is awarded nationally each year to a student who wishes to conduct a research project in microbiology, biochemistry, immunology or molecular biology, with relevance to clinical dentistry. The Leonard Hansen Undergraduate Research Prize The ADRF will award this prize to the student who submits the best final report (nationally) for their research project. Undergraduate students willing to interrupt their course to undertake a one year intercalate degree, or recent graduates who wish to undertake a suitable one year research-based program leading to a further degree. Value of Grant: $7,600 plus $1,500 for consumables Frequency: Annually Outcome: February/March (of the following year) |

DHSV Research and Innovation Grants DHSV’s grant program includes two types of grants that Melbourne Dental School staff may consider applying for:
Who can apply? Academic staff. Please note that at least one of the project investigators must be a staff member of DHSV or of a DHSV funded agency. Value of Grant: Up to $50,000 for the Strategic Research Project Grants, and up to $20,000 for the Innovation Awards. Ernest Joske Research Award Who can apply? The Melbourne Dental School Research Committee will ask Heads of Sections to nominate one academic staff member from their section. The award is an early career award based on the applicant’s published research in the three years prior to the award. Value of Grant: Approx $8,500 Frequency: Triennially |

Peter Reade Oral Cancer Travel Award Who can apply? Graduate students Value of Grant: Up to $2,500 Eligibility & Criteria: The award supports a graduate student to present their research at the International Association of Oral Oncology conference, held every 2 years. Frequency: Biennally Outcome: May/June |
