ENTER scores lower than 70 may be considered for candidates applying under Access Melbourne. For details on eligibility for Access Melbourne, refer to: http://www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/aust/aug/accessmelb/.
All applicants who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents, are required to undertake the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) to be eligible for selection. Applicants without a UMAT score will not be considered for entry to the course. No specific preparation or knowledge is required to undertake the test. UMAT application forms and information booklets containing more detailed information may be obtained from mid-April from the UMAT Office at ACER. Please refer to the UMAT website (http://umat.acer.edu.au/) for further details.
(b) Selection
Selection is a single stream process (ENTER/UMAT) based on a combination of the applicant's ENTER and weighted UMAT ranks, with the ENTER rank given double weighting. Offers are made from a ranked listing commencing from the highest ranked person. Performance in prerequisite subjects is also taken into consideration and may be used to rerank some applicants.
There is no interview.
Applicants need to achieve a weighted UMAT score above the 10th percentile. The weighted UMAT score is calculated by giving a double weighting to Book 1 and single weightings to Books 2 and 3. The results are then ranked in numerical order of this overall weighted UMAT. The 10th percentile is then calculated from the bottom of this ranked list.
The Faculty reserves the right to take into consideration any advantage received by attending for more years than are usual in the senior years of secondary school before (or since) qualifying for the VCE or its equivalent.
