ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

(a) Prerequisite Subjects and Other Requirements

NZ National Certificate of Educational Achievement (level 3)
GCE A Levels, Hong Kong Advanced Levels, STPM or other acceptable overseas qualification
Sri Lankan A Levels
Indian School Certificate/ All India Senior School Certificate
Ontario Secondary School Diploma and the American High School Diploma, plus SAT
English, Chemistry and one of Mathematics with Statistics, Mathematics with Calculus or Physics. A standard equivalent to a study score of 35 in VCE subjects will be required. English requirement cannot be satisfied with IELTS or TOEFL. An A grade in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. At least grade B in an accepted AS Level subject. Accepted GCE AS Level English subjects are: General Paper, General Studies, English Language and Literature, English Literature, English language. An A grade in each of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Results in O-level mathematics will also be taken into account. A grade of B or higher is also required in the general paper. At least a 92 per cent average in English, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics and one other subject. These qualifications are considered on an individual basis, subject to satisfying prerequisite requirements. A minimum of four Advanced Placement Examinations must have been undertaken in the one year for the American High School Diploma, including the subjects English, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. Six OACs are required for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

EAP (a score of at least 80%) and an average of 92% in English, Chemistry and one of Mathematics 1A, 1B, 2 or Physics and one other subject. Pre-requisites must be included in the 'Best 4' score. An average of 92% in Academic English, Chemistry and in one of Mathematics C, Mathematics S or Physics. An average of 92% in English, Chemistry and in one of Applicable Mathematics or Physics and an overall IELTS test result of 6.5 (written band of 6) or TOEFL equivalent. An average of 92% in English and Chemistry and in one of Mathematics or Physics. An average of 92% in English, Chemistry and in one of Mathematical Methods or Physics and an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (written band 6.0) or TOEFL equivalent. An average of 92% in English Composition and Critical Analysis A and B and Chemistry A and B and one of Pure Mathematics A and B or Physics A and B. An average of 92% in English, Mathematics A, Chemistry and one of Physics or Mathematics B. Prerequisites must be included in the 'Best 4' score.

Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.


International students, including those completing Year 12 in Australia, are not required to undertake the UMAT, unless they are applying for Australian permanent residency or New Zealand citizenship status in which case they should undertake the test. No specific preparation or knowledge is required to undertake the test. UMAT application forms and information booklets containing more detailed information may be obtained from mid-April from the UMAT Office at ACER. (b) Selection

International school leavers must be deemed to have achieved the equivalent of Australian Year 12 and will be selected on academic merit. If you are not a school leaver, the Selection Committee will consider your full academic record.

There is no interview.
