ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Entry Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in dentistry or medicine.
- Completed at least two years full-time, continuous clinical work experience.
- A pass in the primary fellowship examination of a dental college or equivalent from a surgical college.
- Full registration either as a dentist or medical practitioner in the state of Victoria. Please contact the Dental Practice Board of Victoria (http://www.dentprac.vic.gov.au/) or the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria (http://medicalboardvic.org.au/) for further information.
- Registration as a trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) (http://www.racds.org/) and/or the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) (http://www.racs.edu.au/).
Selection Criteria
- Academic merit assessed over your entire undergraduate and postgraduate career. Places are strictly limited by the availability of clinical facilities. Hence an excellent academic record is essential as entry is likely to be extremely competitive. Most specialties accept only graduates in the top 5-10% of their undergraduate class.
- You will need to nominate three professional referees and you will be interviewed either in person or by telephone.
- Evidence of additional study will strengthen your application. Primary Fellowship examinations, a postgraduate diploma or higher degree and/or active participation in continuing education in the desired area of specialisation would be well regarded.
