The Melbourne Dental School is a fabulous place for undertaking your research degree. We take science, biomedicine and dental graduates who have a desire to know what’s going on and who want to make a contribution to the expanding field of oral health research.

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students undertake a significant research project in conjunction with their supervisors. Both degrees are assessed on submission of a major thesis. The entry requirements for the MPhil and PhD are very similar but the extent of the work is considerably greater for the PhD. MPhil students can to transfer to the PhD if their supervisors consider they have the ability to succeed with a larger project and if the masters project is appropriate for expansion to a doctoral thesis.
