MASTERS BY RESEARCH

DURATION

Full-time students usually complete in two years. Part-time students usually complete in four years.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Full-time

Year 1

Students enrol in one of the following discipline-specific subjects:

511-622 Dental Materials Science

511-621 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

511-603 Oral Anatomy, Histology and Embryology

511-613 Oral Biology

511-612 Preventive and Community Dentistry

In addition, you are required to complete 511-731 Research Design 1 and 511-732 Research Design 2 in your first year although you do not formally enrolled in these subjects. You need to pass these subjects in order to complete the course.

Year 2

Re-enrolment in the discipline-specific subject undertaken in Year 1 is continued.

  1. These subjects are correct at the time of publication. However, subjects are dependent on the availability of teaching and supervisory staff so may not be offered in every semester.
  2. This course does NOT qualify international students without a registerable undergraduate degree to practice dentistry in Victoria. Please refer to the Dental Practice Board of Victoria

ASSESSMENT

The majority of your time will be spent working on your research project and writing a major thesis of approximately 40,000 words. You may also be examined in any coursework.
