Getting Started for Postgraduate Students

Welcome to the School of Dental Science.

You will find information and web links here to help you settle into your new life as a postgraduate student.

Enrolment

All new postgraduate students will receive online enrolment instructions by post and email in the second week of January 2008.  This will include the following:

Compulsory Clinical Orientation

All new clinical postgraduate students commencing in February are required to attend the Postgraduate Orientation and Certification Program conducted at the School of Dental Science from Monday 4 February to Friday 8 February 2008.

2007 Postgraduate Orientation and Certification Program

The 2008 program will be finalized in January 2008.  On the first day of orientation, full-time students will be allocated a study desk, all students will be issued keys to the postgraduate study room and their personal storage space.  In addition, your photograph will be taken for School ID cards.

Information for clinical postgraduate students

All clinical postgraduate students must provide the following documentation prior to accessing the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne clinics and undertaking clinical training:

Working with Children Checks:

The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences Working with Children Check Policy

All students new to the School of Dental Science in 2008 are required to obtain a Working with Children Check on or shortly after enrolment. Students currently in the School of Dental Science in 2008 will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check before 30 June 2008. The School will provide current students with information on the process for completing this requirement during first semester 2008. Working with Children checks are valid for 5 Years. Students whose course extends beyond 5 years will be required to obtain a new check. Information about this is available at http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/workingwithchildren.
