UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROJECT FUNDING
The Research Committee of the School of Dental Science invites applications from undergraduate students to support their final year projects.
The application form can be downloaded at http://www.dent.unimelb.edu.au/dsweb/current_students/student_forms.html under Research Forms, Application for Undergraduate Research Project Funding. This form can be filled in electronically, printed and then checked and signed by the supervising academic. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
Conditions of Grant:
- Current 4th year BDSc student groups and 2nd year BOH student groups may apply for research funding to support their final year projects:
- A total of up to $10,000 is available where:
- $8,000 is divided amongst BDSc student groups* and
- $2,000 is divided amongst BOH student groups*
- Details of the proposed project must be completed on the appropriate form (see above). Details of methodology and all relevant documentation must be included (ie questionnaire)
- Details of estimated costs to be incurred must be provided
- Any shortfall in funds will be the responsibility of the supervising academic
- Where applicable, ethics approval must be obtained
- A total of up to $10,000 is available where:
- This award is paid as a reimbursement of expenses on presentation of paid receipts up to the value of grant. All other costs in excess of the award are the responsibility of the supervising academic. Cash will not be paid to student groups.
- The supervising academic must sign the application.
- Food will not be funded
- Travel to conferences will not be funded
- Requests for funds for ‘miscellaneous’ must be itemised
- Funding will be granted for statistical consultancy purposes if the student/s can provide a full justification from their supervisor and Mr Geoff Adams (statistician, School of Dental Science) in support of their request. Student groups and their supervisors are strongly encouraged to contact Mr Geoff Adams in the planning stage of their projects. Student groups that received statistical advice at the design stage of their projects will be given priority at the analysis stage
*Amount to each group variable each year depending on number of student groups

Submission
Applications are to be submitted to the Research Administrator, 4th Floor (School Office) before the close of business on the above dates.
Successful Applicants
Successful applicants will be notified via email of the outcome of their application. Funds will be allocated to the supervising academic.
