Supplementary Assessment
Supplementary assessment may be offered to students who fail a component of assessment, however this is not an automatic entitlement, and the decision on whether supplementary assessment is granted is made by the Melbourne Dental School's Board of Examiners. Supplementary assessment is normally undertaken during the University's official mid-year supplementary examination periods (July), and either in December or January for end of year exams. This is to enable students who sit supplementary exams the opportunity to progress to the following year level prior to the commencement of classes in January/February of the following year. The School may also provide remedial programs to assist students in the preparation for supplementary assessment in the weeks prior to assessment.
It is important that students do not make travel plans until the official release of results in case they are required to undertake suppplementary assessment. Being interstate or overseas will not be considered a reasonable excuse for postponing supplementary assessment or missing remedial sessions.
