INDUCTION FOR NEW RESEARCH STUDENTS

Welcome to the Melbourne Dental School. You will need to complete the following 7 steps within the first two weeks of your course:
Step 1 - Student Identification
Make an appointment with the AV Manager, Chris Owen, to have your Dental School ID card prepared.
Step 2 - Environmental Health and Safety Induction
Make an appointment with the EHS Officer, Dennis Rowler, for your EHS induction session.
Step 3 - Building Access
In consultation with your supervisor, complete the Key and Proximity Card Request Form. Submit this to the School Manager for approval.
Step 4 - Study space and lockable storage
All full-time research students will be allocated a desk and a computer on arrival. For maintenance issues regarding your study space, contact Dennis Rowler. For computer facilities, contact Chau Nguyen.
Step 5 - Melbourne School of Graduate Research
Become familiar with the services and facilities provided by the Melbourne School of Graduate Research, particularly the Current Students page and Getting off to a flying start! page
Step 6 – Oral Health CRC
Check with your supervisor whether your research project is part of an Oral Health CRC research project. If this is the case, you will need to contact Melanie Carew, Communications Manager for the CRC to discuss requirements and potential scholarships.
Step 7 – Photocopier access code
You are provided with photocopying facilities and allocated 2000 copies per year as a full-time research student. Graduate students have access to the copier outside Postgraduate Study Room 5 on the 5th floor. To set this up, email your name and course details to Julie Schumann requesting a photocopier access code.
