Welcome to the 2012 Melbourne Dental School Continuing Professional Development program
A Message from the Director
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the 2012 Melbourne Dental School (MDS), Continuing Professional Development Program.
2012 will be the final year the MDS and ADAVB produce a paper CPD publication. As of 2013 an on-line CPD experience with email updates about programs and full access to enrollments and course information through our new e-cart web site will be available. The CPD Unit will keep everyone up to date regarding the new site as it comes to fruition. In the meantime you can sign up for our email reminders and course news by ticking the box on the registration form at the back of the brochure, or by registering on-line at the current web site www.dent.unimelb.edu.au
During 2012 the CPD unit will hold our most popular programs for those of you who may have missed out in previous years, and is pleased to be offering two new conference-style programs to be held at the Bio21 Institute. The first program "The Multidisciplinary Needs of Paediatric Dentistry – Are You Keeping Pace?" will be held in May. In October an "Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Update" for general practitioners will also take place. Both these programs have a wide range of experienced speakers and are sure to offer participants the latest changes in these important areas of dentistry. The CPD unit is also offering a new Oral Medicine lecture to be held at our new state of the art teaching facility (Melbourne Oral Health Training and Education Centre – MOHTEC) located at 723 Swanston Street Carlton.
The School is proud to present its first ITI Education week in October. This new week-long implant program offers participants the chance to see live patient treatment, demonstrations and participate in hands-on laboratory work. Places are strictly limited for this program so we suggest you enroll quickly to avoid missing out on a place. The MDS aims to bring you some of the very best speakers from throughout Victoria and interstate, and their profiles are listed in the brochure and on the web site for your information. We thank our presenters for their support of the 2012 program and for sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with us.
Our publication this year has been possible through the kindness of our sponsors and we acknowledge and thank them for their contributions, as well as the kind support of the many hands-on courses held at the MDS.
The MDS CPD Committee continues to provide us with invaluable assistance when it comes to course planning and we extend our kindest thanks to our members for their valuable feedback and co-operation. I would also like to thank our fantastic staff who ensure the smooth running of all our courses. Thank-you Sam, Elena, Mario, Sue and Elly.
We look forward to supporting your CPD needs during 2012 and hope to see you throughout the year.
