SHORT HISTORY
- Began a Bachelor of Science at La Trobe University. After two years, transferred to Monash University where I completed the Bachelor of Science with Honours in biochemistry. Worked for a year and a half at Southern Cross Biotechnology running the ferment and midstream aspects of production. Subsequently came to Melbourne University and completed a PhD on “the synthesis of phosphopeptides and their biomedical applications” in the chemistry dept. Post doctoral position currently in the School of Dental Science, Melbourne University.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
- The application of alternative protecting groups in phosphopeptide synthesis
- Preparation of casein-related phosphopeptides and their analogues for calcium and calcium phosphate binding studies
- Synthesis of carbohydrate monomers for polymerization and use as adjuvants in vaccine development
- Identification of optimal binding motifs for P. gingivalis complex proteases.
